Measuring our Plants

We have been keeping track of how much our plants are growing.  We use cubes to measure them each day and we record on a calendar how many days they have been growing.  We draw a picture of the changes we see each day too.  We love to watch them grow.

Jour 1 (Day 1): See the "Earth Day" blog post for our day one report.  We drew the seeds today because we just planted them.  Nothing had grown yet.

Jour 5 (Day 5): la laitue (lettuce) has started to sprout.

La laitue is 2 cubes tall.

Jour 12: les haricots (beans) start to sprout and la latitude is getting bigger!

Les fleurs (flowers) have not grown at all yet.

La laitue is 4 cubes tall and les haricots are 2 cubes tall.

Jour 14: les haricots are now taller than la laitue! The beans are 5 cubes and 7 cubes tall!

La laitue is 5 cubes and 4 cubes tall.

Jour 15: les haricots grew 3 cubes last night! They are 11 cubes and 9 cubes tall! A third haricot started to grow too. La laitue is still the same.
Les fleurs are starting to sprout finally! They are too small to measure.
We also put a cut piece of romaine lettuce in water to see if it would grow, and it did! It's grown a lot in just one day!

Our plants got too big. We had to put them in bigger cups!

Jour 18:  Les haricots grew a ton over the weekend! There are now 4 bean plants too!
Haricots: 16 and 18 cubes tall
Laitue: 5 and 6 cubes tall
Fleurs: 3 cubes tall

Our regrown lettuce is getting much bigger too!
