It all started after we watched a video last Friday about the Berenstain Bears visiting the Dentist. Some of the students made a Dentist office using the blocks and we got interested in learning more.
Reese came in the next day and was talking about her loose tooth and did some writing in her journal about it and we looked up the word for teeth in French..."Les dents". She went home that night and found more French words with her grandpa that we could use to talk about teeth. Then she made a plan with Gigi and filled the plan for the dentist centre with pictures we looked up on the iPad. We watched a video about a trip to the dentist to get more ideas for what we would need for our new centre.
We made a list: gloves, masks, sunglasses for the patient. tooth brushes, toothpaste, floss, dentist tools, prizes for when the patient is done, and goggles.
We decide to use the house centre to make the dentist office because it already had a sink we could use and chairs for the patients. We made a sign that said "Le dentiste" and an open and closed sign.
Annelise wrote a sign in french that told people they need to clean their teeth. Abby drew a sign about the different kinds of braces we could have and Emma S. drew a poster with pictures of dentist tools. We added small elastics and a geoboard to use as the braces and got some toothbrushes and mirrors at the dollar store. Lily, Gigi, and Reese brought in some toothpaste boxes and tubes and a toothbrush to add to the centre. Merci!
Today, we got a ton of cool materials from Mr. Olivito's dental practice! Merci beaucoup! We got to use REAL dentist tools! We were very excited today to use our new centre and practice being dentists. During the afternoon playtime, almost every student was playing in this centre!

This is the waiting room. While the patients wait for their appointment they are using the activity books we got from Dr. Olivito. The dentist comes over to get the next patient.
We are brushing cavities off the teeth that Mlle Ouellette made.
