Les trois petits cochons

We enjoyed working on the "Petit chat" story so much that we thought it might be fun to work on "Les trois petits cochons" next. We started by doing the story on a felt board. We really loved acting it out and saying the words together. We even had 'wolf faces' to hold up while the wolf character was speaking. After this some of us decided to make our own puppets, books and pictures. We worked very hard on writing the words from the story and drawing the pictures. We were excited to see that even though we were all writing the same story all of our books turned out so different! We all have such unique thinking. Next, we had a challenge. Can you build the houses from the story?
We chose groups, we talked about materials and strategies and then we built our houses. Once we were done Mlle Benneian tried to blow our houses down with the 'wolf'' (her hair dryer). We had so much fun! We were way better builders than the pigs from the story because none of our houses fell down! Way to go everyone! The commentary below from the students is exact quotes. They did such a great job speaking French! Wow!

"The pigs are trying to get away from the big bad wolf because they don't want to get eaten. They go to their brother's houses because the first pig got his house blown down by the big bad wolf so he ran to the second pigs house, that is his brother. Then the big bad wolf blew down the second house down so they ran to the other brother's house. The big bad wolf couldn't blow that one down, he kept trying but he didn't blow it down. So he climbed in the chimney and fell in the soup!"

We labelled our pictures.

"It is la maison de briques! They are trying to get away from the big bad wolf, so the third one built a brick house because they didn't want the big bad wolf to eat them. There are three places to sit because there are three pigs. They can watch TV. There is a soup for the big bad wolf to fall in too. There is bread, milk and a computer in here too. The chimney is up [there] at the top." - Kate
