Les suites!

This week we have started to learn about patterns! We learned how to identify the core of a pattern and that the core is the part that repeats. We learned that a pattern has to repeat at least 3 times to be a pattern. We explored making our own patterns and played with our new patterning centre in the classroom.  We can name and describe our patterns and find patterns in our surroundings and in nature and living things. We practiced copying patterns we saw using different types of objects and extending patterns we see. Can you find patterns (les suites) at home?

We investigated these items at a table and said what we saw. Can you name these patterns? Can you create a pattern like this?

We found patterns in the classroom.

"circle, chain, circle, chain, circle, chain..."

We worked with a partner to make similar patterns as the one on our paper.
How many ways can you make the same pattern?
