High Jinks - Must wear SOCKS!

Please ensure that your child has socks on for the field trip to High Jinks on Thursday, April 2nd.  All children and parent volunteers must remove their shoes to enter the play area, so appropriate socks are a must.  Thanks!

Lundi l'art - Picasso

This Monday, we looked at artwork from the artist Pablo Picasso.  His style of art is called cubism.  We got to use all different colours when making art like his.  We used curvy and straight lines.  Sometimes we could see hidden pictures in this art.  Here we see a person playing a guitar.  We also saw a woman with a strange face.

Here we see a bunny and an Easter egg!

Look at the art we made in the style of Picasso!

"I hid a mud puddle in my picture."

We made abstract art by drawing a picture of ourselves then cutting it into pieces. We glued the pieces to another paper but we mixed it all up!

Character Counts - Caring

Each month we submit tickets with the names of the friends who have demonstrated the character trait of the month. At this month's assembly, Michael was chosen to win! He got a "Character Counts" T-Shirt.
Way to go Michael!

The Sense of Touch - Making Goop and Flubber

We have been discussing the 5 senses over the last couple weeks and this week we have been working on the sense of touch. We talked about things that feel rough, soft, squishy, hard, wet, dry, etc. Yesterday the children made Goop out of cornstarch and water. We noticed it is hard when not being touched but when we pick it up it begins to 'melt'. We had so much fun playing around with the Goop that today we decided to make something else- Flubber! The Flubber which is made from Borax, water and glue was not quite like the Goop. It forms a rubbery, bouncy, squishy substance. We had fun stretching it, rolling it, squishing it and making shapes out of it.

If you would like to make either of these experiments please see the link below the pictures.

Enjoy!
